I go to the gym on a daily basis and don’t wear anything fancy workout pants and a T-shirt. But there are a lot of women who wear athletic gear like tank tops, as do the men. It’s generally assumed that if your skin touches the machines and the benches, you clean them off to keep things sanitary.
I bring this up because Sarah Villafae was working out at a student gym at the College of Charleston when a she says a staff member approached her and asked her to put on a different shirt. Shetold them she didn’t have another shirt to change into, and continued on with her workout. That’s when they asked her to leave, citing “sanitary concerns”.
